Let Psalm 16 remind you of this, especially in the middle of the storms. I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me. I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken. This is a reminder that regardless of what happens, you will not be shaken. God will not only direct you, but more importantly, he will remain at your right hand.
He will stand beside you and will not desert you. You simply have one responsibility: keep your eyes on the Lord. Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure, because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, nor will you let your faithful one see decay. You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
This is another important part of your genuine search for comfort from God through difficulties: an attitude of praise that leads to a heart of rejoicing. I love you, Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation , my stronghold.
God is your strength, your rock, your fortress, your deliverer, your refuge, your shield, the horn of your salvation, and your stronghold. These are certainly reasons to rejoice! No wonder David, before listing all these things, began Psalm 18 by saying Lord, I love you.
His confidence and his adoration was in our strong God who he knew would comfort him in the midst of his trials. The Ancient form of the letter tav also means a signal or a monument. All these meanings are very significant in that God was putting His mark, His sign on their doorposts. This was the covenant He made with them, to pass over the homes with the sign, the signal, the mark. Passover was to be a monument that was kept, remembered and observed throughout all the generations of Israel to present day and beyond Exodus An interesting note in Exodus says that a mixed crowd went out with Israel…they were grafted in to Israel and were no longer foreigners or strangers.
Also, Exodus — this is where Jews get the tefillin from. It lasts all day if the tefillin is wrapped tight enough. Exodus is such a great book to study! Thank you Courtney for this amazing bible study! The Lord has been opening my eyes to so much this week! This reminds me of how I need to trust in His divine providence for me.
What an awesome God we serve! Thank you Jesus! Well, I had TWO major trials happen in my life in a 4 month time-span. One happened while I was still dealing with the fall-out from the first one.
Dec 20, I discovered my husband of 13 years had an affair…then on April 12, I was diagnosed with a kidney tumor that ended up being cancerous. He led me to it so He will see me through it and he has. Thank you Courtney for all your hard work. Fantastic video, Courtney! I have learned over the years to always cry out to the Lord as a first priority when facing trials.
God has always worked out everything better than I could have imagined. Praise Him! Thank you for this! I need to remember to trust him and be silent because I know he will get me through! Hi Courtney! I just wanted to share that in chapter 15, verses 2,6,11,3, and form a beautiful prayer. Blessings to all! Your email address will not be published. I accept the Privacy Policy. Skip to content Are you in the midst of a trial? Then God said in Exodus 12 For I will pass through the land of Egypt that night, and I will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and on all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments: I am the Lord.
He is our Passover Lamb! What a Savior! Are you in the dark just now in your circumstances, or in your life with God? Then remain quiet When you are in the dark, listen, and God will give you a very precious message for someone else when you get into the light.
Are you presently facing a fiery testing of your faith? Are you in the dark regarding circumstances in your life? One of the things that we find hardest to handle is the testing of our faith. It calls for too much internal struggle for us to come out on the other side. We want to know the answers. We want to see the light at the end of the tunnel far in advance. It is just too much of a challenge for us to go through a long testing of our faith and the discipline of darkness, yet God requires this of each one of us if we are to grow spiritually.
One thing I can assure you is that it is far easier to take a course where we know exactly when it will end, or the day of the final exam so that we can prepare for it, than it is to go through a life testing. But the testing of our faith is so unpredictable. It throws us off guard. We have to muster up our courage and passionately seek God deep within if we are to make it through uncharted waters.
But God engineers and even brings us into the very thing that tests our faith. Why does He do this? What we rarely can comprehend at the start - especially of a life challenge - is that He permits this type of unrelenting trial for our good and benefit.
He intends to bless us if we move closer rather than farther away. If you are facing fiery trials, you are not alone. So, before I respond in joy God has to teach me that Jesus is better than anything this world has to offer.
He teaches through trials and loss that He alone is my treasure and great reward. Loss hurts, a lot. But my joy is in something that cannot be shaken.
We can feel incredible loss and unshakable joy in God at the same time. Even if we lose everything, God is still enough. And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you.
God entrusts me with trials as a gift. If I respond to the trials in faith and holiness, I can have joy in the fact that I am storing up rewards in heaven. If I respond to the trials with fear or complaining, I miss the opportunity for reward.
On opening day, Heather came down with mono, which lasted a year, and soon I began suffering from debilitating migraines. Later, Heather needed a serious tumor removed, and we had a demon possessed worker and patients one even attacked Heather. Crazy stuff. But I am a little slow. It took another missionary and a Zulu pastor to point out that we may be facing spiritual warfare. For some reason, we Westerners are often slow to consider spiritual warfare at least I was.
He can only do what God allows remember Job. God may allow Satan to harm me or even kill me , but it always has a purpose and it is always for my eternal good. Satan wants to discourage us so that we give up. Keep your eyes on God. If you are getting bombarded with trials, take heart, it may be because Satan is not happy with your life and ministry!
Start with the heart. Even though this is listed last, I always start with examining my heart. God often uses trials or sicknesses to get our attention and reveal sin. As a loving Father, he wants to restore us to fellowship with him. Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting! How can we endure with joy in trials? How can we find peace? Changed perspective. Peter walked on water during the storm because his eyes were on the King.
When his eyes focused on the storm he sank. The storms and trials of life may rage, but perspective changes everything. You will miss out on being used by God.
Are trials hard? But I would never trade any of my trials because of what God did through them.
