The game brings several surprises for players in the form of jump scares. More than anything, Dispatcher is efficient in making the stealth aspects stand out as the player character has to survive the creatures while figuring out a way to escape the station.

The player has to follow the voice of Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays a mysterious ally that guides the player away from a collapsing star. In this game, the player wakes up from cyro-sleep to discover that their entire crew is dead. Whoever or whatever killed them in still in the ship, and it is the player's job to find out what happened and to survive.

Of course the player can get some weapons, but there is not enough ammo for all the enemies they will face. So stealth is the best option. It's not the biggest stealth game you'll find but it does the job. This game is a bit of an oldie, having been released in for the PS1 and Windows. It has actually been compared to the Resident Evil series in terms of its feel and mechanics. The story is pretty interesting, as the player follows three astronauts as they explore what appears to be a totally abandoned human settlement on Mars.

Released in , Solarix is a stealth-based first-person shooter that takes place in humanity's first interstellar space colony. It is actually quite similar to Martian Gothic Isolation in terms of the fact that players fight and hide from zombie-like creatures.

It was definitely inspired by the old-school sci-fi horror games like System Shock. This might be one of the most overlooked games for the Playstation 2 , with Echo Night: Beyond being a science fiction ghost story. The player plays as a newlywed who is heading to the moon for their honeymoon. However, their vessel crashes, and the couple is separated. Players get to explore an abandoned research base, and guess what?

It's also haunted! The player plays a man named John Maracheck, who awakes from stasis on a seemingly abandoned spacecraft. The gameplay includes puzzle solving, exploration, and a spooky atmosphere.

That is that your greatest fear is the unknown. This game fittingly keeps you in the dark about what exactly is stalking you. With no pulse rifle to speak of: your greatest weapon generally ends up being the nearest office desk you can cower under as the Xenomorph creeps on by.

Talk about tension…. Never has running through what feels like the same corridor repeatedly felt so terrifying! Personally I never got used to the crippling sense of dread that crept up every single time I had to walk past an air vent or seemingly lifeless corpse.

Dead Space constantly jumps from moments of breath-taking silence to complete and utter chaos as you are hunted by creatures resembling distant, disfigured cousins of The Thing — only 10 times faster and 10 times freakier. Welcome to a world where air-vents are your arch enemy. Dead Space, everyone. Anything could be creeping around the corner on the USG Ishimura.

In the first game of the franchise: the player is forced to fight — or flee — the Necromorphs in the pitch-black confines of the USG Ishimura. In the empty swallowing black - without oxygen or gravity - we are rendered helpless before anything else that might be hunting us, be it Xenomorphs, Necromorphs, or anything else.
