If an earlier version of Office is installed on a user's computer, Windows Installer migrates the previous version's settings to Office Editions the first time the user starts an Office Editions program. When users install Office Editions with your transform, Setup migrates settings from an earlier version of Office. The first time that a user runs one of the Office Editions programs, Windows Installer migrates settings from an earlier version of Office and overwrites any corresponding settings previously applied.

This is useful for customizing a small number of settings or for changing a default configuration without rebuilding an OPS file that's already in the MST file. To configure settings on the Change Office User Settings page, shown in Figure , click a category in the left pane. In the right pane, double-click the settings that you want to configure and to include in your MST file. When users install Office Editions using your transform, the settings that you configure on the Change Office User Settings page apply to every user on that computer.

However, Windows Installer applies only the settings that differ from existing default settings. Settings that you configure on this page of the wizard overwrite the same settings in the OPS file that you've included in the transform. The Custom Installation Wizard enables you to run programs during the Office Editions installation. You can run the Profile Wizard Proflwiz. If Windows Installer starts installing a second package before it's finished installing the first, the entire process fails.

Office Editions applies settings in the following order: Settings in an OPS file included in the transform. Registry values specified in the transform. The typical installation may not fit your needs.

It may have left out components and languages that you want, or you may want a smaller installation size and choose to remove some things from the installation. This is why the LibreOffice Installation Wizard gives you a way to customize the installation. There is a list of languages and components that can be added or removed. They are located on the Custom Setup page in the wizard.

The Setup Type page was covered in the Windows setup page. It is the second page in the wizard, and it is the starting point for a custom installation. You will be taken to a Custom Setup page, which is covered in the below section. The page allows you to add and remove the components and languages to the installation mentioned in the introductory section.

So I have the experience to know what to expect when I'm installing a version of Office. So to install Office I use the setup64 file that's in the Office folder. At no time am I given the option to do a custom install. I've already wasted too much time with this dealing with this problem. I really don't see any advantage to sending a capture of what's happening.

We're running Windows 7 at work so I'm going to install Office on one of the computers I use. I want to see what happens with Windows 7. I'm also going to contact Microsoft on Monday and see what they have to say about this problem. I have the Office DVD. I need to know if there's a way to do a custom install of Office Thanks, Paul.
